What is a tender?

In practice

The work divides into qualification (should we bid at all), assembly (collecting evidence, certificates, references, financials) and writing (answering the questions as asked, in the order asked). Most losses are not to a better proposal but to a missed mandatory document, an unanswered sub-question or a late submission.

Where it fits in a build

Common in public sector, construction, healthcare, education and large enterprise procurement. If a meaningful share of your revenue arrives this way, the process itself is worth systematising.

Common mistakes

• Bidding for everything, which spreads effort thinly and lowers the win rate on the ones you could have won.
• Answering the question you wish had been asked rather than the one that was.
• Starting the evidence hunt after the questions are answered, when there is no time left.
